UCSB Summer Sessions is charged with the responsibility of offering high quality,
innovative, and affordable summer programs to high school, undergraduate, and
graduate students, as well as members of the local community and general public.
Working in partnership with academic departments and campus units, UCSB Summer
Sessions is committed to offering outstanding learning opportunities that both
complement and enhance the educational experiences offered during the other
academic terms.
Summer Sessions offers Unique Advantages
for Students
Here are a few reasons students tell us they come to Summer Sessions . . .
Summer Sessions 2008 Dates
There are two six-week sessions (June-23 - August 1 and August 4 - September 12).
Within these sessions, classes are offered in 3-, 6-, or 10-week formats.
Summer Sessions 2008 Registration
Registration opens on Monday, April 7 (8:00 am) for UC Students on GOLD. Registration for Non-UC students opens on GOLD beginning Thursday, May 1.
Summer Sessions Fees
Summer fees are charged according to the number of credit units taken. In summer 2008, the unit fees for UC continuing students are $158 per unit for undergraduate students and $222 per unit for UC graduate students. Please be aware that the unit fees stated are estimated and have not yet been approved. Please check here in early April for the latest fee information.
The 8-unit fee cap
An exciting fee incentive program designed to encourage students to take more summer courses. UC undergraduate students pay for the first 8 units of study. In other words: take 8 units for a fee and all additional courses are FREE!
Summer Financial Aid
Complete financial aid packages are available for all new and continuing UCSB students.

We have open enrollment. UCSB students, interested adults, high school graduates
or students from other colleges and universities are welcome. Some courses may
have prerequisites, which are stated in the course descriptions. NOTE:
Admission into Summer Sessions does not constitute admission or readmission
to another academic term at the University of California.
Summer
Housing
University Housing is available for students attending UCSB Summer Session 2008. The on-line application process will open on March 1, 2008, at the following link:

Students may also select University apartment accommodations without meal plans in Santa Ynez, El Dorado and Westgate Apartments.
Final Exams
In most cases, finals are given on the last scheduled day of the class.
Transferring Credit
In most cases, the credit you earn here is transferable to another university,
but check with your home campus to be sure.
